Poker Out Loud was created by Solve For Why, an advanced poker training company. Solve For Why’s founder and lead instructor is Matt Berkey, a long-time high-stakes poker professional in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Poker Out Loud is a unique approach to poker training and entertainment. Top poker professionals play a cash game format, while all wearing noise-cancelling headphones. Before their actions, they speak their thoughts out loud, revealing to the audience their thought process and reasoning behind each poker decision.

All of the players have high-volume music playing in their noise-cancelling headphones, whenever the action is not on them. This allows the player whose turn it is to speak openly and freely about their thoughts, knowing that the other players at the table can not hear them. It is a unique and interesting way to watch a televised poker game.

Early on in episode 6 Matt Berkey gets some loose action from Christian Soto, but Matt ultimately wins with a turn all-in shove with his pocket Kings on a Queen-high board.

Later, Matt Berkey makes a loose preflop peel from the big blind with King-Deuce offsuit, but then applies maximum pressure on a scary board texture, getting Zach Resnick to lay down the best hand with his pocket Queens.

At this stage in the session, many of the plays are getting outright personal, as several players have made remarks about blatantly targeting specific players, due to their tendencies and perceived weaknesses. Perhaps it’s a good thing that they are all wearing those noise-cancelling headphones.

Christian Soto hopes to gain some momentum in what has been a rough session for him so far, as he gets a successful bluff through for a small pot. The other Solve For Why coaches share some of their insights into his game, during their off-camera interviews.

Unfortunately for Chin, that momentum is quickly halted, as Jordan Young turns a King to move ahead of Chin’s flopped top-pair Jack. Chin calls Jordan’s turn shove and gets stacked, putting him in the red for nearly $6,000.

The mental game aspects of poker come into play at this table, as players attempt to use physical tells and actions to hopefully gain a small psychological advantage. As Solve For Why is largely focused on live poker games, you will generally find more mental game aspects in the material, as compared to other poker training sites.

The most common rivalry of this season, Nick Howard vs Christian Soto, continues in this episode, as the two get 5-Bets in preflop with marginal hands. Nick wins a huge pot, as his A-J flops top pair and holds on against Chin’s aggressive bluff line with QTo.
