Poker Out Loud was created by Solve For Why, an advanced poker training company. Solve For Why’s founder and lead instructor is Matt Berkey, a long-time high-stakes poker professional in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Poker Out Loud is a unique approach to poker training and entertainment. Top poker professionals play a cash game format, while all wearing noise-cancelling headphones. Before their actions, they speak their thoughts out loud, revealing to the audience their thought process and reasoning behind each poker decision.

In addition to the noise-cancelling function on everyone’s headphones, they are also listening to high-volume music when the action is not on them, to ensure they can’t hear anything being spoken by their opponents. While none of the players are proficient lip-readers, they are also told to not look at the player who is currently speaking, just to avoid picking up on any information.

All 6 players at this table are poker professionals, and all 6 of them have poker coaching experience. They also have intimate knowledge of each other’s games, which makes for some very interesting hands and table dynamics.

In the first hand of episode 5, Zach Resnick uses his tight image to successfully take down the pot preflop with a 4-Bet with the King-Nine suited.

In the following hand, Zach astutely picks up on a physical tell preflop, which allows him to make a successful bluff on the flop to take down the pot with 7-high.

The off-table interviews of this episode focus on Zach Resnick, his poker strengths, and how he came to partner with Solve For Why.

Nick Howard and Christian Soto continue their overly aggressive plays against each other, repeatedly going to battle with weak hands, both preflop and postflop. This time Nick gets a bluff through to win a decent pot.

The biggest pot of the episode takes place in a cooler between Matt Berkey’s pocket Kings and Zach’s pocket Queens. Most of the money gets in preflop, with Zach electing to 5-Bet his Q-Q, which Berkey just calls. The rest of the stacks get in on the safe 6-high flop, and Berkey wins a huge pot, in the rare ‘‘premium vs. premium” spot on this season of Poker Out Loud.

After that hand, both Matt Berkey and Jack Laskey are up over 300 big blinds of profit on the session.
